Stags Begin Fall Practice, Prepare For Classic For A Cure Tournament
Fairfield Sports Information
The Andrew Copelan era of Fairfield University men's lacrosse
kicks-off at 7 a.m. on Wednesday, September 10, when the Stags take
the field for their first fall ball practice. The Stags will
play in one fall ball tournament this season, participating in the
Classic for a Cure in Braintree, Mass., on Sunday Oct. 12.
"I am very excited about getting on the field with the boys," said
Copelan. "These first weeks have been a whirl-wind, getting
to know the players and the University. Now for the first
time I get to see what they can do on the field."
Fall practice is an opportunity for the coaching staff to assess
the progress that returning players have made over the summer
months. It also provides the staff the first chance to get a
long look at incoming players.
This season, fall ball will be even more important as Copelan gets
to know the players and their talents. It is equally
important for the players, as they will have the opportunity to
make a good first impression on the new head coach.
Copelan was named the third head coach in the Stags varsity history
on Monday Aug. 25. Fairfield is entering its fourth season as
a member of the eight-team ECAC Lacrosse League.
