Georgetown Tabbed as 2008 Preseason ECAC Lacrosse League Favorite
In a vote by league coaches, the Georgetown Hoyas have been chosen as the favorites to capture the 2008 ECAC Lacrosse League title. The Hoyas have been picked first by league coaches for nine straight years and have won the title seven times.

Three ECAC Teams Named to Inside Lacrosse's Face-Off Yearbook Preseason Rankings
Inside Lacrosse has released the Face-Off Yearbook Top 25 preseason rankings for the 2008 men's Division I college lacrosse season, and three ECAC teams have earned a spot inside the Top 20. Georgetown was picked No. 4, while Loyola was tabbed at No. 16, and UMass was picked at No. 20.

Ten ECAC Players Named to Inside Lacrosse's Face-Off Yearbook Division I Preseason All-American List
Inside Lacrosse Magazine has released Face-Off Yearbook's list of preseason All-Americans for Division I men's lacrosse. The list features 90 of the top lacrosse players in the country, including 10 from the ECAC.

Inside Lacrosse has released its list of Face-Off Yearbook preseason All-Conference teams. In the ECAC, Georgetown led the field with four selections, followed by Loyola, Hobart, and Rutgers, all with two selections. UMass, Fairfield and Penn State round out the field with one selection apiece.

Three Greyhounds Chosen In MLL Supplemental Draft
Former Loyola men's lacrosse players Dan Bauers, Michael Graham and Jamie Hanford were selected in the 2008 Major League Lacrosse Supplemental Draft this week. The former Greyhounds were three of the 76 selections in the seven-round professional outdoor league draft.

Former UMass Standout and Current St. John's Asst. Coach Brian Jacovina Selected in MLL Supplemental Draft
Former UMass lacrosse midfielder Brian Jacovina was selected in the first round of the 2007 Major League Lacrosse Supplemental Draft on Wednesday. Chosen by the Denver Outlaws, he was the draft's seventh overall pick. Since graduating from the University of Massachusetts this past May, Jacovina has been an assistant coach with the St. John's Red Storm.

UMass Lacrosse Grad Sean Morris To Play In U.S. National Team Exhibition
UMass lacrosse grad Sean Morris has been named to the U.S. National Team, as announced by U.S. Lacrosse. He was chosen as one of 20 members who will participate in an exhibition game against Duke University the weekend of Jan. 26-27 during Champions Challenge Weekend at Disney's Wide World of Sports Complex.

Fairfield Announces 2008 Captains At Team Banquet Honoring 2007 Season
The Fairfield University men’s lacrosse team honored its Class of 2007 and celebrated the 2007 season at its annual banquet on Friday, Oct. 19 at the Trumbull Marriott. The Stags also announced their team captains for the 2008 season.

St. John's Men's Lacrosse Presents "Honorary Captain" With Mini-Harley At Lacrosse For Leukemia Tournament
On Saturday, October 20, the St. John’s men’s lacrosse team competed in the 10th annual Price Modern Lacrosse For Leukemia Tournament. Each team is paired with an “honorary captain,” a child who is currently undergoing treatment for blood cancer. The Red Storm’s honorary captain was 7-year-old Jason Stuart, who has been fighting cancer since the age of three. As a team, the Red Storm presented Stuart with a Harley Davidson mini-bike and a helmet with a St. John’s logo.

Hobart Grad Drafted by NLL’s Rock
Former Hobart College lacrosse player Wes McDonald ’07 was recently drafted to play in the National Lacrosse League (NLL). The Toronto Rock selected McDonald in the fourth round (55th overall) of the 2007 NLL Entry Draft.

Penn State Names Mackrides and Zichelli Captains for 2008 Season
Penn State Nittany Lion lacrosse coach Glenn Thiel has announced that seniors Andrew Mackrides (Newtown Square, Pa.) and Tommy Zichelli (Severna Park, Md.) have been named team captains for the 2008 season. The seniors are two of only four seniors on a very young Penn State roster.

Loyola's Bauers and Spack Selected In National Lacrosse League Draft
Former Loyola lacrosse players Dan Bauers and Andrew Spack were drafted in the 2007 National Lacrosse League Entry Draft at the Pepsi Center in Denver, Colo. Both players were seniors on last year's squad that advanced to the NCAA Tournament.

UMass Alum Andrew Recchione Chosen In NLL Entry Draft
Former UMass standout Andrew Recchione was selected by San Jose in the sixth round (78th overall) of the National Lacrosse League Draft. He joins former teammate Jeff Zywicki with the Stealth. It marks the second California team that has drafted Recchione in the span of three months. In May, he was chosen by the San Francisco Dragons of Major League Lacrosse.

Penn State Recruiting Class Earns Top Ten National Ranking by Inside Lacrosse Magazine
STATE COLLEGE, Pa. - The Penn State Nittany Lion men's lacrosse team, under the guidance of veteran head coach Glenn Thiel, will head into the 2008 season with the services of the nation's tenth-ranked recruiting class. The national list is issued each year by Inside Lacrosse magazine and is featured in the September 2007 issue, which hit news stands this week.

Rutgers Freshman Brian Shemesh Named to 2008 U.S. Men’s Under-19 Team
Rutgers University freshman Brian Shemesh has been selected to represent the United States in the 2008 International Lacrosse Federation (ILF) Under-19 World Championships. Shemesh joins the 23-player squad which will compete in the World Championships from July 3-12, 2008, in Coquitlam, British Columbia.

Two Georgetown Men's Lacrosse Players Selected to United States U-19 National Team
Washington, D.C. - Two members of the Georgetown University men's lacrosse team were selected to represent the United States in the 2008 International Lacrosse Federation (ILF) Under-19 World Championship. The 2008 United States Men's U-19 team was selected by the 24-person Player Selection Committee following tryouts held from July 12-15 at the University of Maryland-Baltimore County.

Hobart's Kirk Finishes 2007 No. 1 in Assists
Hobart College junior attackman Jamie Kirk (Salisbury School/Orangeville, Ontario) finished atop the NCAA Division I leaderboard in assists per game. He is the first Statesman to lead the nation in one of the three scoring categories since the program moved to Division I in 1995.

Fairfield's Greg Downing Picked 6th In MLL Draft By LA Riptide
Fairfield's Greg Downing became the first Stag in program history to be selected in the Major League Lacrosse Collegiate Draft, held at Stony Brook University. Downing was sixth overall selection, going in the first round to the LA Riptide.

2007 ECAC All-League Team Named
Cape Cod, Mass. - In a vote by the league coaches, Georgetown junior Brendan Cannon has been named ECAC Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Year. Jerry Lambe, also of Georgetown, has been tabbed the 2007 ECAC Defensive Player of the Year, Penn State’s Drew Adams has earned the Goalkeeper of the Year honor for the second consecutive year, while Rutgers freshman Justin Pennington has been selected as the 2007 ECAC Rookie of the Year. Georgetown’s Dave Urick has been chosen as the 2007 ECAC Coach of the Year.
