Buckeyes Help WWII Vets
Last month, the Ohio State men's lacrosse team took time out of their schedule to honor those who have done so much for this country. The Buckeyes assisted in the "WWII Veteran Honor Flight Reunion," a service that flies veterans to Washington, D.C. to visit their memorials.

Three Statesmen Up for Roster Spots at 2010 Lacrosse World Championships
Two current Hobart lacrosse players and one former Statesman are on the short lists to compete in the 2010 FIL World Lacrosse Championships. Junior goalie Evan Kirk is on the 30-man roster for Team Canada, while junior attackman Mike White and attackman Tyler Hill '09 are among 40 players on the Iroquois National Team roster.

Seniors Scott Foreman, Brandon Freeman and Andrew Stimmel have been elected team captains for the 2010 Ohio State men's lacrosse team, Nick Myers announced. The captains were selected by a vote of their teammates. The trio was part of a group of players who stepped forward with an interest in leading the team before practice began and auditioned throughout fall camp.

The 2010 Ohio State men's lacrosse schedule features seven games in Columbus, highlighted by the third annual "Showdown in the Shoe" which features the Buckeyes, now members of the ECAC Lacrosse League, taking on conference-foe Air Force April 24 in Ohio Stadium. Connecticut’s five Division I men’s lacrosse teams will come together for the first time, Sunday, Oct. 18, at Yale University in New Haven, for the Christian Prince Memorial Tournament for the Connecticut Cup. Two Former Loyola All-Americans Standout in Major League Lacrosse
A pair of former Loyola men's lacrosse All-Americans were big parts of Major League Lacrosse's Championship Weekend. Tim Goettelmann '00 of the Long Island Lizards not only helped his team advance to the MLL Semifinals, but he was named the 2009 New Balance Sportsman of the Year for his efforts in creating `Monster's Kids,' a charity to benefit Long Island children's hospitals. Gavin Prout '01 earned his third Major League Lacrosse ring, helping Toronto win its first crown with a victory over Denver.

Legendary Princeton men’s lacrosse coach Bill Tierney has been named the head men’s lacrosse coach at the University of Denver, Vice Chancellor for Athletics and Recreation and Ritchie Center Operations Peg Bradley-Doppes announced today. During his 22 seasons with Princeton, Tierney led the Tigers to six NCAA championships, eight NCAA championship games, 10 NCAA Final Four appearances and 14 Ivy League championships.

In a vote by the league coaches, three UMass Minutemen were honored with postseason ECAC awards. Senior Jim Connolly has been named the 2009 ECAC Offensive Player of the Year, while classmate Doc Schneider has been tabbed the ECAC Goalkeeper of the Year. Coach Greg Cannella earned ECAC Coach of the Year honors. Co-champion Loyola took home the other two major awards. Senior P.T. UMass men's lacrosse seniors Tim Balise and Doc Schneider were named ECAC Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week, respectively, for the week ending May 3. Schneider was also named UMass/Dinn Bros. Athlete of the Week with Brandice Balschmiter and Lisa Wilson. The Minutemen defeated Rutgers 11-10 in overtime, winning the ECAC Lacrosse League and earning a berth in the NCAA Tournament.

The UMass men's lacrosse team will take on No. 4 seed Princeton in the NCAA Tournament First Round on Sunday, May 10 at 5 p.m. The teams will battle at Class of 1952 Stadium in New Jersey. The game will be televised live on ESPNU and radio broadcast on 100.9 FM WRNX. This is UMass' 18th NCAA Tournament appearance and first since 2006 when the Minutemen advanced to the NCAA Championship game.

Fairfield Ranked In Top-20 Nationally; Cipriano Honored By ECAC Again
For the first time this season the Fairfield University men's lacrosse team has earned a top-20 ranking in the national polls after a road win at Hobart on Saturday. Freshman goalkeeper Charlie Cipriano (Williston Park, N.Y.) was named the ECAC Co-Defensive Player of the Week by the ECAC as well for his efforts in the win that kept the Stags perfect in league play. Georgetown fought back from a four-goal deficit in the third quarter and pulled to within one score on three occasions in the fourth quarter, but it wasn't enough, as Navy scored two goals 42 seconds apart and held off the Hoyas, 10-8, in front of 2,155 fans at the Multi-Sport Field on a cold and rainy day on the Hilltop.

Cooper MacDonnell scored his career-high fifth goal with 12:01 to play in the fourth quarter, giving No. 15 Loyola a 12-8 lead, but second-ranked Syracuse outscored the Greyhounds 6-1 the rest of the way to win a 14-13 non-conference thriller on Saturday afternoon.

Connolly's Last-Minute Goal Gives No. 14 UMass 9-8 Win Over Penn State
Jim Connolly's wraparound goal with 55.2 seconds remaining in regulation gave the UMass men's lacrosse team a thrilling 9-8 win over Penn State in an ECAC classic on Saturday afternoon at Garber Field. Connolly and fellow senior Tim Balise each netted hat tricks while Doc Schneider stood tall with 12 of his 15 saves coming in the second half, stopping a Nittany Lion onslaught dead in its tracks. After spending the better part of the first month of the season on the road, no team was in more dire need for a home game than the Georgetown Hoyas men's lacrosse team. It didn't matter much that the opponent was No. 11 Harvard - making it the fourth game against a team ranked among the top-15 in the country this season - the Hoyas were happy to return home.

No. 17 UMass Defense Dominates In 7-3 Win At No. 11 Harvard
The UMass defense was stellar all afternoon as the No. 17 Minuteman lacrosse team downed No. 11 Harvard, 7-3, in Cambridge on Saturday. Senior goalie Doc Schneider made 14 saves to backstop the defensive effort. Senior attackmen Tim Balise and Jim Connolly each scored twice for UMass which moves to 3-1. UMass Men's Lacrosse Drops Heartbreaker To Hofstra, 11-10
After building a four-goal halftime lead, UMass was outscored, 8-3 in the second half, which included the game-winning goal with only four seconds remaining in regulation as Hofstra handed the Minutemen (1-1) a heartbreaking 11-10 loss on Saturday afternoon. The Pride scored the first four goals of the second half to tie the score at seven. After the Minutemen scored three of the next four, Hofstra staged a late comeback with three goals in the final 2:44 to steal the victory. Evan Blum, Rory Pedrick, and Joe Reale each netted two goals in the defeat.
