Smart Bucks: OSU Players Reach Lofty Academic Goals
COLUMBUS, Ohio –A record-tying number of men’s lacrosse student-athletes will be named to the Ohio State Scholar-Athlete list this year, with 28 of the 43 squad members selected. As a group, the Buckeyes achieved a team grade point average of 3.22 for winter quarter, increasing their cumulative grade point average to a 3.02 overall.

Hobart College’s freshman Alex Love is the offensive player of the week while Loyola University (Md.) sophomore long-stick midfielder Scott Ratliff is the defensive player of the week. Despite playing in a losing effort, Ohio State University’s freshman keeper Greg Dutton has been name the rookie of the week.

Tundo has career-high six goals and eight points as Ohio State rolls Mercer
COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State men’s lacrosse team moved to 2-0 on the season with a 20-2 victory over Mercer Saturday in Woody Hayes Athletic Center. The game was the first in program history for the Bears. Ohio State led 6-0 after the first quarter and 11-2 at halftime. The defense and senior goalie Ryan Keneally shut out the Bears in the second half, while the offense combined for another nine tallies. Sophomore Jeff Tundo led the squad with a career-high six goals and eight points, while classmate Trey Wilkes was a perfect 18-for-18 on faceoffs in the game.

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State men’s lacrosse team opened the 2011 season with a 4-3 victory against Detroit Mercy Thursday night inside Woody Hayes Athletic Center. The Ohio State defense limited Detroit to just three goals and 16 shots, with freshman goalie Greg Dutton making six saves in his first career game. Buckeye senior Tyler Dolphin had the gamewinner in the fourth quarter, breaking a 3-all tie, set up by classmate Zach Boyt.
